I have recently found this blog Scrapping the Music that has a weekly challenge which consist of making a layout based on the title or the lyrics of a song. The song for this week was "Beautiful Girl" from Prince, a beautiful song by the way!! I really felt like doing this challenge and with Richard being away for a couple of days, I had lots of time on my hands :) Kind of strange to make a layout "Most Beautiful Girl" about yourself, but I thought the pictures were great for this challenge and I had been wanting to scrap them for a while now. I used the beautiful papers from Luxe Designs from the February Classy Pak, Crackle Paint from Ranger, Stickles from Ranger, flowers (Prima), Thickers (American Craft) and  a lot of glue ;) Thanks for stopping by!

I've been back from the short holidays for a while now, but I've been busy creating and other so didn't come around to blog :-O So to answer the challenge on Two Peas, I really want to accomplish updating my blog with pictures and all new layouts! :) Quite an easy answer, isn't it?

Let's see, the holidays. We had a great time, the weather was not rainy at all but actually quite nice, at least nice enough to take loooong walks: the kids totally impressed us by walking kilometers without complaining! I have to say that the walks were from playground to playground, so that helped! We had a really nice break, some pictures have already been scrapped (see below)!

Last weekend I had this URGE to change my scrap corner. I had a small corner that was delimited by the staircase and in my opinion my desk was way too small! So I had my eye on the only other available corner in the room and as soon as I had convinced Richard we changed it! I'm now a happy scrapper (well, I was already, but now even happier!), let's show some images:

chair.jpg  My little U form area, with computer, drawers and my pink IKEA chair that I bought this weekend! I love it!
flowers.jpg  This is my new IKEA flower system, little boxes that are magnetic and stick to a (kitchen) rail, I think it looks so cute! And I have decided that if the little boxes are full, that means I don't need any more flowers!

drawers.jpg  And these are my little (ikea) drawers! That's about all to show, I can't compete with the (semi) professional scraprooms you see on the internet, but that's ok, I love my space!!

Now on to the layouts:
alb1.jpg These are some of my favorite pictures of my kids, sitting on a bench in the park. Background: Scenic Route (Laurel collection).

alb2.jpg  A halloween (2007) layout. PP Scenic Route.

BOM1.jpg  My first page for my BOM (book of me), based on a challenge on the classyscrapper site. It is just the first page I did, it will not be the first page in the book! The challenge was to scrap an object in your house that you love/makes you happy. So I took a picture of this painting painted by my mother, isn't it beautiful? PP Fancy pants.

SL8.jpg My little angels sleeping on the couch, it can be exhausting, being a child! Title Angels (chipboard with stickles, I love stickles!!). I forgot the manufacterer of the papers, sorry! I loooove this paper, it is so gorgeous! Made for a classyscrapper scraplift challenge!

SL9.jpg  Another layout made for a scraplift challenge, again I forgot the name of the company that made the papers :-O Title: Le coq et le ballon ovale" (not sure about the E at the end!!).

SL10.jpg  And it's time for the holiday pictures! The kids on the famous Place de l'écriture in Figeac (love these pictures!), again based on  scraplift challenge! PP (look careful, there is some!) Arctic Frog.

And the last one:
stamp3.jpg  Made for a stamp challenge. We had to use stamps and transparency to make a frame and the lo had to be based on MUD! I wrote on the frame "cute as mudpies". I actually don't really like this layout... but I'm sure Alban will be happy to have it in his album.

That's it for now, I hope to finish another one tonight! Richard is away for the weekend, so I should have time enough! Have a good weekend, and thank you for your comments ;-)

Tomorrow we're leaving for a couple of days holidays, to Figeac in the South! Sounds really cool, going South, but apparently it is gonna rain for 5 days... Just our luck! Well, I'm sure we'll have fun anyway. Still have to pack everything, prepare for the trip, but I don't have any time to do that! Just finished washing the last clothes yesterday, they are trying to dry right as we speak, the suitcase will have to packed tomorrow morning!

I did some more layouts since I last blogged :
LO15.jpg  This layout was made for the "I cannot resist" challenge on Classyscrappers. PP Rob & Bob studio, a lot of stamps and picture of the kids eating ice-cream during our summer vacation.

LO16.jpg  This is a layout from a picture made by friends of my parents in law, featuring grandma and the two little ones. A cute picture, but the color combination in it is, well, not the best :-) PP Fancy Pants.

LO18.jpg  I like this one quite a lot. I had to scraplift a layout that I had made myself (scroll down for "Noel 2007" layout!), I turned it upside down and basically changed everything... Old pictures of Alban last spring, I just love these pictures! PP Rouge de Garance and a little Scenic Route.

I made one more but can't show it yet, because it is for a contest. I'll keep you informed and show it once the voting is over!

I'll be back after our little holidays! Thanks for stopping by!

No Valentines celebration for me today, can't do that on Thursdays, I have dance class to go to :) But I don't mind, we can go get nice things to eat another day (I say get something which means take away, because we actually don't go out for dinner often with the kids, such a hassle!) We don't really do St Valentines, for me this a day like any other day :-) Besides that the day was already expensive enough with the check up of the car (40.000 km) :-O

I also bought a bread machine, mmmmm, it is going to smell good here. Ever since we tasted home made bread over at dinner at Rachel and Loics', we wanted one, it is sooooo good! The machine should arrive next week, I'll tell you more about it  once I have breads made :-)

So, I really need to update the layouts, I did 4 more since my last blog post! So here we go:

gallery3.jpg  This picture was taken with wrong settings on the camera and turned out all blue. I love it :-) Dream street paper and Cuttlebug diecuts alpha.

321challenge.jpg  This one was made for a challenge where I had to use3 embellishments, 2 patterned paper and a stamped title. I quite like the doodling above and below which says "together". PP Basic Grey.
scrapliftchallenge5.jpg  A layout about past Christmas, made for a scrapliftchallenge at classycoordinates.com. PP Love Elsie, Noel, back ground paper Scenic Route.

And finally another one for a scraplift challenge, featuring Alban who is jumping while we were watching a horseball game. He was happy to be outside without being cold! PP Daisybucket. The weather has been fantastic here ever since last weekend, only today it is cold again... Spring was in the air:
scrapliftchallenge6.jpg  Quite like this one!

Thanks for looking and thank you for your comments!

Before talking change, I'll show you my latest Layout. This is one about the Kapla day at school. Kapla is the name of these wooden construction things. The childrens school had a company coming over for the day with thousands of pieces of Kapla and all children got involved in building villages, huge animals, boats... All parents were invited at the end of the day to take a look at the constructions, and I was really surprised and impressed with the results! I mean, these children are somewhere between 3 and 6 yrs old!! Alban worked on the village in the upper right corner, Naomi worked on the wall around the whole "construction site" :)
Look at this:
kapla.jpg  PP Crate Paper Zoom collection.

So, I thought it was time for some change. Talking about my hair here :) My long hair started to REALLY annoy me, it was always caught in telephone headsets, shawls, clothes etc and it actually rarely looked good. FED UP! So I went to the hairdressers and first asked for shorter, a "carré" at shoulder lenght! That was when I made the appointment. So yesterday I went to the appointment and decided that shoulderlenght Carré was actually not really wat I wanted, I pointed out what I liked in a magazine, vaguely said "something like that" and look at the result!
linbefore.jpg (before, picture taken at christmas)
and
linafter.jpg  After! Picture taken yesterday, I took the picture myself therefore it is not the best one, but tadam anyway! :-) It doesn't really show because of the bad lighting, but my hair now has 3 different colors. I am quite happy with the result!

And of course, this morning it doesn't look like that anymore :) I'll have to learn myself how to do a brushing ;-)

I wish you all a nice day!

Lundi 28 janvier 2008
It's Monday again... The weekend was nice, we had beautiful weather and spent a good part of yesterday at a local park with the kids, a friend and his kids. A newly discovered park (for us) with lots of play equipment for the kids, who had a great time. I took lots and lots of pictures, so you'll probably see a layout or two soon!

Had a good fright this weekend, someone talked about the upcoming school holidays and I suddenly realised that I TOTALLY FORGOT to do the inscription for the daycare center (Centre de Loisirs) for the children! One sleepless night for me! So I called the townhall first thing in the morning, inscriptions were closed on Friday night but they were willing to take our kids if we stopped by this morning. Ouf! It would have been a serious problem, to find another solution for two weeks!

I have had quite some time to scrap this weekend, esp. on Friday when the kids were in school and I had nothing planned for myself! I admit that putting a page together takes less time than before too :D
So here we go:
blog1.jpg  A little one using I BELIEVE 3 bugs in a rug patterned paper. Showing my kids who don't want to be photographed anymore, mommy's getting obsessed with pictures! :D Not the best layout ever....

blog1b.jpg  This LO was made to meet a scraplift challenge. PP are daisybuckets! My kids enjoying the last days of sunshine of 2007 with Scooby!

blog2.jpg  This layout is in Dutch, mostly because the title cannot be translated, not like this {..} anyway. Engeltjes means little angels, Bengeltjes means little Rascals. PP Crate paper Samantha line.

And this is the last one, one I particularly liked making! I wanted to give Freestyle a try, whatever that really might be :) and had fun doing this! The picture is a close up of Alban's eyes, PP love, Elsie :
blog3.jpg
That was it! I didn't make all 4 during the weekend, I'm not that fast :D
Thanks for stopping by, thanks for leaving a comment and have a nice week all!

Hello all!
I survived my dentist visit, which is a good thing :) and had good fun in my scrap class where we learned a technique about cutting pictures in pieces (??) and adhering them to the page in a 3D way, looks quite nice with my flower pictures, but I don't think I'll do it again because it is very precise work and I am defenately not patient enough for that! Can't show the layout yet, because it isn't finished, I need to get a title or a nice quote on there!

I have a couple of others to show though:
blog.jpg  Showing Alban who is watching CARS (not for the first time!), this LO was made for a scraplift challenge and personnally I quite like how it turned out, colorful at the least! I have no idea who made the papers :)

blogb.jpg  This layout was made for a stamping challenge, the flowers at the bottom were stamped with Versamark, as was the word "adorable". The title Heavy and the curly things in the corner were stamped and embossed with distress embossing powder, a powder that I don't actually like :-O but well, I bought it so I'll use it! :-)

Oh, BTW, Richard and I won the card game last Friday (CF. previous post)!! Yay us!

Thanks for stopping by and thanks in advance for any comments, preferably nice ones ;-)

Jeudi 17 janvier 2008

Last day at work for this week, tomorrow I'm off (always on Fridays)! Tomorrow will be great! In the morning I go to my scrap class, which takes place once a month, love it! We always try out new techniques (new for me!) and it just so nice to scrap with others for a whole morning! Defenately looking forward to that. After that I'll have my dentist visit, which is a lot less nice, and in the evening we'll have William and Christine over for dinner and a card game, that should be cool!

I have one more Layout to show here:
lin1-copie-3.jpg
Patterned paper and embossed Cardstock: Noel, Love, Elsie! Love these papers, such fun colors!! The picture shows Naomi at Christmas when she had just gotten her new microphone from Santa, she was dreaming of this microphone! She is really into music,  loves to sing and would like to learn how to play accordion and harmonica :) Amazing choices for a 5-year-old, lol! Our parties will be animated!

The blogger question on Two Peas for today is "If you keep your photos on your computer. How often do you put them on a disk to back them up?", which reminds me that I should really do a back up one day soon. I normally don't do them myself, Richard takes care of that, but I really have to ask him when the last was, it would be a pity to loose everything :-O

Thanks for stopping by, will be back soon!

After a week of feeling ill (but still going to work!! I'm proud :-) , I'm back to my old self again, that feels good!

Since the last time I blogged, Naomi has fallen on her head, she needed 4 stitches, but they are already out, nothing to serious or to worry about! I even made a layout about it, "celebrate happy endings", mostly because the challenge was to write Celebrate in the title :-)
lin2.jpg  (normally, if it works as I think it does, you can click on the image to get a bigger photo!)

This coming year, I hope to improve my scrapbook techniques, and especially the for me more challenging ones such as using paint and ink but also sewing and stamping for example. I made a layout about my scrap goals for 2008, using paint and stamps!
lin1.jpg  Silly picture of me taken for the occasion, I am actually not scrapping AT ALL on this photo!
I like the use of paint and ink, and can only hope to get better at it :-D New products for this are appearing on the market like ALL the time, so I am really trying to withhold myself from buying everything!

On the forum of two peas in a bucket, I am  following a FREE photography course, because improving my pictures is on e of my other goals for 2008. I really like the course so far but haven't practiced yet, I have taken my camera with me to work to do some practice during lunch break, but the battery is empty :-O Bummer, I really felt like trying it out! So instead I am writing on my blog :-)

I also subscribed to a photo editing course via Adrienne Loomans blog, an online course called "Artistic Edge"! Sounds good doesn't it? :-) I hope to make lots and lots of beautiful pictures after these two courses! I also hope I'll have time to scrap left!

That's about it for today, thanks for stopping by! And please leave me a little wave when you're leaving! (=ajouter un commentaire)
